Thursday Men's Gathering Update
Hello Maury Men,
I hope everyone had a good time at the potluck last Sunday and the Thursday Men's Gathering. At both events, Tim Simmons gave an update on the work of Roland Barnes and his mission work in Peru. If you are interested in ways to aid in and pray for this ministry, please ask Tim for more information.
At the Thursday Men's Gathering, Josh Scheenstra gave an update on the ministry of Care Portal and their work in helping keep children out of the foster care system. The men expressed their interest in taking part in the ministry of Care Portal in Maury County. We could potentially do this through our churches or as our own ministry. We desire to be under the direction of the church (for most of us, our home church is Parish) and yet we recognize the call to serve our community locally. Therefore, pray that we move forward in the wisdom of the Lord. Keith has admonished us to pray over and act in the spirit of Romans 12:1-2:
"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

We are seeking to have a representative of Care Portal come speak to us at a future Thursday Gathering.
You are encouraged to bring friends and family to our men's discipleship groups (see events below for details).
If you do not already have a copy of Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life, please talk to Keith Cannon or order a copy. We are currently reading Chapter 2 for next month's meeting.
